2014 Summer Workshops

Summer is here and our workshops are back! Drop off the kids and let them unleash their creativity with our fun projects.

You are welcome to drop off and pick up kids in first grade or higher. Younger children may need extra assistance with certain projects. Each workshop runs from 11 am – 2 pm. Attendees must register in advance to reserve their spot. Cost for each workshop is $35 per child and includes all supplies.

Glass Suncatchers
Tuesday, June 10^th       11 am – 2 pm
Add some sparkle to your yard with a set of 4 suncatchers made out of kid-friendly fused glass! We’ll start with pre-cut rectangles of clear glass, add some imagination (and a wire for hanging) and the possibilities are endless!

Everything in Clay Day
Wednesday, June 11th 11 am – 2 pm
Sometimes as adults we impose too many limits on young, creative minds. We’ve found that if you give a kid some clay and let them explore it on their own, magical things can happen. Let’s see what your child will make!

Glass Initials Set
Tuesday, June 24th 11 am – 2 pm
We’ll be using our 6-inch bisque letters as a template for this cool set of glass initials. Each child will make 3 letters out of kid-friendly fused glass. We will also add a wire for hanging in their room!

Silver Clay Jewelry
Wednesday, June 25th 11 am – 2 pm
(Ages 10 & up ONLY)
NEW! Unique jewelry made from pure silver clay! Pick out your shapes and stamps to make one large or two medium pendants. We’ll fire and finish them on the same day!

Frozen Plate and Mug Set
Tuesday, July 8th 11 am – 2 pm
Do you wanna build a snowman? Celebrate Summer with a plate and mug set featuring Olaf from the movie Frozen. We’ll be using some of our favorite painting techniques such as paper masking and etching.

My Favorite Things Message Board
Wednesday, July 9th 11 am – 2 pm
Kids will pick out their ten favorite add-ons from our huge selection and add them to a cool plaque that can be used as a dry erase board after firing. We’ll also add a beaded wire for hanging!

Personalized Artist’s Set
Tuesday, July 22nd 11 am – 2 pm
Every artist needs a set of tools to work with! We’ll be making a functional set of artist tools: a painter’s palette, a tumbler for water, and a cup to hold brushes or other utensils.

Make Me a Monster
Wednesday, July 23rd 11 am – 2 pm
What will your little monster look like? We’ll be playing a fun game to determine which fun features will make up each child’s unique monster. Then we’ll paint the kooky creatures on a big platter!

Summer Workshops at Half Baked Pottery

This summer we’re going to continue our children’s workshop series with some fun and exciting workshops. Our workshops allow kids to explore art in new and exciting ways. We’ll be playing with clay, glazes, and other materials so your child can discover his/her artist within.

Creative expression is an important part of growth, and we’ve created lots of projects designed to encourage children to think outside the box while creating something really cool.

Choose from week long workshops or one day workshops. During our week long workshops, we’ll explore certain artistic principles in depth. Our one day workshops are the perfect size for any child.

Workshop Schedule

Week Long Workshops (3 hours/day)
June 24-28 – Tile Mirror – Perfect for your child’s room! We’ll work on 14 different tiles and techniques to create this awesome mirror!

July 8-12 – Celebration Set – Next time you have a celebration at your house, you’ll have the perfect dishes for it! We’re making a cake stand and 6 matching dessert plates. And we’ll play with clay to make a cupcake stand and clay cupcake box!

July 22-26 – All about me – This camp is all about you! We’ll be playing with painting, clay, and glass fusing to make some awesome projects that are all about you!

One Day Workshops (3 hours/day)
June 13^th – Life is for the Birds – The birds are singing. Help them sing at your house by making a cool Bird Bath and Bird House!

June 18^th – Ready for Movie Night! – Summer means blockbusters! Get ready for your family movie night by making Popcorn Bowls using different techniques.

June 20^th – Monster’s Incorporated – Make an AWESOME monster plate, bowl, and cup; perfect for scary snacking!

July 2^nd – Sea and Sky – We’re making a lovely Glass Fishbowl suncatcher and a really cool clay Owl Vase

July 16^th – Day at the Beach – July is HOT and the perfect time to think about the beach. If you can’t make it to the ocean, this is definitely the next best thing! Make a Beach picture frame from clay and glass and a clay flip-flop!

July  30^th – Clay Windchime – Join us as we let our imaginations run wild to create this really cool windchime. Make whatever shape you can imagine for the top, then cut out pieces for the chimes from clay. What will you come up with?

August 1^st – Best of Summer – We’ll make our most popular projects of the summer with clay, glass, and paint.

• We’ve teamed up with BRICS this year for yummy treats during the workshops.
• You are welcome to drop off and pick up kids in 1st grade or higher. Younger children may need extra assistance with certain projects.
• Each workshop runs from 10am-1pm.
• Week long workshops are $140/child. One Day Workshops are $40/child
• All materials, supplies, paints, firing, and finishings are included
• Full payment is expected to reserve your child’s spot.

Spring Break Children’s Workshops 2013

Sign your child up today for one of our awesome workshops. (We know they’re awesome, because the kids told us so.)

For Spring Break we’re offering the following workshops for kids:

• Mondays and Thursdays we’re making fairy houses and vases, which will be perfect for Mother’s Day. ($70 value)
• Tuesdays and Fridays we’re making clay bird feeders, flower pots, and garden stakes. These awesome creations will also make great Mother’s Day gifts! ($75 value)

General Information

• Pick 1 day or several! Workshops are hosted daily over Spring Break (3/25-4/5) from Noon-4pm.
• We’ll be working with clay and glazes each day. All of our materials are washable.
• Workshops are appropriate for children ages 7+.

Who We Are

Half Baked Pottery & Gifts is a paint-your-own pottery and fired arts studio located in the heart of Broad Ripple Village. We take walk-ins every day (except Monday) or groups of 6+ by appointment. We have everything you need to create your masterpiece including: stencils, stamps, sponges, tape, idea books, and other great ideas!

Adults and Children alike will have a wonderful time picking out their piece and then turning it into something unique. Our friendly staff is always on hand to offer suggests and tips.

Our paints are non-toxic so they are safe for kids of all ages! Fired pieces are lead-free, food safe, and can be washed.

How does my Living Social Work?

1. Your Living Social Deal is good for 2 people to paint a piece of pottery $17 and under. Choose from some of our most popular items including mugs, plates, figurines, and coasters.

2. Paint your piece. We’ll walk you through our selection of over 60 glazes to get you started. We also have lots of helpful tools such as stencils, stamps, tape, dot makers, circle makers, sponges and more!

3. Leave it with us to be fired. Your piece will be ready for pick up 1 week from the day you finish.
